About Our Teachers
Dave Byrne
Dave is one of the co-founders of GradeUp Maths and a qualified post-primary teacher with over five years of experience teaching Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in both secondary schools and private tuition. He graduated top of his class from Hibernia College with a Professional Masters in Education (Post-Primary) in 2023, earning both the Best Overall Student and Best Research awards. He focuses on helping students develop their mathematical abilities and systematically improve their academic performance.
Before becoming a teacher, Dave worked in the pharmaceutical sector, where he gained extensive experience applying mathematics and analytical skills to solve real-world problems. He brings this practical insight into his lessons, helping students see the relevance of what they learn while building their understanding, skills, and confidence in maths and science.
Mark Mac Manus
Mark is one of the co-founders of GradeUp Maths and a qualified post-primary teacher with seven years of experience teaching Maths, Business Studies and Economics. He uses his professional knowledge and subject expertise to make maths clear, relatable and rewarding for students.
From introducing core skills to preparing students for challenging exams, Mark has taught across all year groups and ability levels. He focuses on simplifying complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, so students gain confidence, achieve stronger results, and develop a lasting understanding of mathematics for their future success in exams and beyond.
